My
brain swirls
like
a swollen river –
thoughts
emerge,
eddy,
and
sink again
without
expression.
The
swelling hurts,
gushes
here, then there,
tears away banks,
scars cliffs,
disorients,
disturbs.
I
have no direction.
I’m
flotsam
in
a tide of pain
and
exhaustion.
Parts
of my head
flutter
and vibrate,
like
leaves and branches,
grabbed
by the flood,
powerless,
drowning.
